Strategy
Strategy is the answer to these five questions according to Laffley and Martin in their excellent book
" Playing to Win"

I was so impressed with "Playing to Win" that I purchased a copy for each member of my TEC group for Christmas one year and made it their holiday reading. It has since become my standard for developing strategy.
Strategy should be developed by the Senior Leadership group. They own it, they execute it and are happy to be held accountable for its delivery.
The 5 step process is iterative and it is right when the whole team can agree that is all just makes sense

Don't stop at establishing strategy. Make a plan to deliver it- relentlessly- A meeting rhythm and scorecards to review progress and make course corrections is vital. This daily, weekly monthly and quarterly process is the key to successful strategy implementation all focused on maximising business value.

CULTURE, PURPOSE and BEHAVIOURS
A really useful piece of work is to step back from the WHAT and discuss the WHY and HOW. Why and How we do what we do as a firm, back to the very motivation for the enterprise. This discussion gets the team emotionally involved in the plan and drives winning. The emotional connection is something that many businesses miss and it is a tremendous leverage point.
Engaged and committed people combine together in a dynamic way to drive an enterprise ,much better than those who just turn up for the money because it is just a job!!.
